INVITATION TO ESPSS WORKSHOP
ESA is organising a workshop for ESPSS
(European Space Propulsion System Simulation) users at the Space Propulsion 2012 Conference in Bordeaux (France). The workshop is an ESA initiative to give an introduction to ESPSS for the broad propulsion community, followed by a users' workshop.
A general overview of the European Space Propulsion System Simulation will be given by ESA and EAI, where the main capabilities of the EcosimPro tool and the ESPSS libraries will be explained, as well as the status of the main developments that are currently ongoing in ESPSS.
Some selected applications of actual cases will be then presented by some industrial and researcher institution users, showing how they have handle specific problems and how source access allows addressing their specific problems. The purpose is to highlight potential extensions given by ESPSS users for further upgrades.
ESA and EAI will be glad to receive in the subsequent round-table discussion the different suggestions and questions stated by other users and attendants, based on their experience and wishes.
The main goal of this meeting is to initiate a constructive feed-back on the simulation tool in which the experience of developers and users are put together to plan future improvements for the EcosimPro/ESPSS tool environment. Users interested in showing their test cases and sharing their experience, are invited to contact Francesco.Di.Matteo@esa.int.
During its 5 years of development, ESPSS libraries have been improved thanks to the feedback from its users. You can send ESA your feedback or request of info before the workshop, so that it can be taken into account for the planned discussions,
by sending this form to Francesco.Di.Matteo@esa.int. This form will be also available during the workshop to receive additional comments.
The ESPSS (European Space Propulsion System Simulation) is an ESA initiative that aims to create an European simulation platform for spacecraft and launch vehicle propulsion systems under transient and steady (design & off-design) conditions. It consists of a set of libraries based on the EcosimPro simulation environment, developed jointly by the space propulsion European industry (EAI, Astrium, KopooS, VKI, Cenaero, ...). ESPSS provides a state-of-the-art tool for analyzing different phenomena in space propulsion systems. Currently ESPSS is in development Phase-3; one of the main goals is to add the capability of computing steady calculations for Design purposes.
EcosimPro is a commercial multi-disciplinary modelling and simulation environment developed by Empresarios Agrupados Internacional (EAI). It is currently used in several areas such as environmental control and life support in manned spacecraft, loop heat pipes, power plants systems, gas turbine systems and spacecraft power systems. EAI is the official distributor of the ESPSS libraries
The workshop will take place at the Space Propulsion 2012 Conference in Bordeaux (France), on Tuesday 8th of May from 14h00 to 18h00.
The planned agenda is:
- 14h00-15h30: ESPSS General Information and Status Overview
- EAI: ESPSS overview
- ESA: Ongoing and planned ESPSS developments.
- [Coffee break]
- 16h00-18h00: ESPSS Users' Meeting + Workshop
- Real application users demonstrations
- Round table discussion
